"Act as if what you do makes a difference. It does."

i was sharing this story with a friend last night and she told me it was "blog worthy" so i felt i should share this story with you.
it was a beautiful spring evening in April and i was wandering around the ASU tempe campus trying to find my lost car. well in actuality, my car was right where i left it, only i was lost. so after about 15 minutes wandering around the campus i was far from anything recognizable and totally scared. (let me preface this by saying i transferred from Regis in Denver to the Downtown ASU campus so i was never on the Tempe campus and this was my first and last time ever at the tempe library and so i was completely confused) anywho so i was wandering around in the night and feeling scared when i saw this girl approaching in a wheel chair and thought she looked safe and kind. i walked right up to her.
me: "umm this might sound crazy, but is there anyway you could help me find my car i am completely turned around and now i can't find it."
while she was walking me... err wheeling me to my car we began to talk. we covered the basics from majors to graduation.
me: "thanks again for walking me to my car, i would still be so turned around if it weren't for you. what's your name so i can thank you?"
girl: my name is annie."
and before she could ask me my name i interrupted. "oh i love that name! I have always wanted to name my daughter annie. i just picture this cute little girl with curly brown hair and freckles named annie. its so funny how people you meet can change your opinion on a name. and since meeting you, i am even more eager to name my daughter annie because of your genuine kindness."
annie: "I know what you are saying, there was this girl when i was a child who used to tease me and her name was bri. i have never known a nice bri. they are all so mean."
i instantly began to blush, totally embarrassed. "funny you should mention that. my name is Brianna. and i mostly go by breezy. but sometimes people call me bri. hopefully i can give the name bri a better reputation."
a bit embarrassed herself, annie responded, "i am so sorry i didn't mean to offend you."
we approached my car and i thanked her again for her help. and she walked out of my life. i have since graduated and have not been to the library, but i know that in those 10 minutes we were together God impacted our lives completely. what we do, even to strangers can make a huge difference in their lives. i have to be kind to people, even when its difficult, because my actions can have a greater affect on them than i realize. and im pretty sure my quick conversation with annie that day changed her viewpoint on the name bri.
